Swedish Drug Delivery Forum – SDDF

SDDF is a world leading research forum in Drug Delivery, focusing on new strategies for subcutaneous, oral and pulmonary drug delivery.

This is SDDF

The Swedish Drug Delivery Forum (SDDF) is a world leading research forum in Drug Delivery. Today, many of the novel molecules are biological compounds such as proteins, peptides and RNA and many display problems of poor solubility (and low bioavailability?). Thus, the Drug Delivery area is today facing tremendous challenges to develop new drug therapies.

The research in SDDF is separated into three Drug Delivery Platforms (DDPs) where each platform is focused on research in areas with unmet medical needs; DDP-1 Parenteral Drug Delivery, DDP-2 Oral Drug Delivery and DDP-3 Pulmonary Drug Delivery. The research will ultimately lead to development of new and improved drug therapies with respect to both efficacy and patient safety.

SDDF is the first national forum in Drug Delivery and is based on a multi-disciplinary collaboration between academia and industry with a strong financial support from Vinnova (Sweden’s Innovation Agency). The Department of Pharmacy at Uppsala University is the academic hub of the forum and here the major part of the research is conducted. The industry is represented by ten industrial partners that contribute with both great expertise and research infrastructure within each of the three main areas of the forum.
